ISOLATION AND LOCK OUT

  • If a mobile machine or electrical apparatus is left unattended such machine or electrical apparatus must be isolated at source and locked out.
  • Prior to attending to a breakdown or doing maintenance on a mobile machine or electrical apparatus must first be isolated at source and locked out
  • If more than one person is working on a mobile machine or electrical apparatus it must be locked out by each person working on the apparatus by the using a scissor lock.
  • If a mobile machine or electrical apparatus has an “A” Class hazard such mobile machine or electrical apparatus must be isolated at source and locked out and remain so until the hazard has been identified.
  • If any maintenance or adjustments is to be made to a Belt drive, tail-end or conveyor belt, such belt drive must first be isolated at source.
  • Only the person who fitted a lock out, is permitted to remove such lock out
