1.Remove the shell anchor cover and ‘work’: the shell back and forth to ensure proper operation. (Refer to picture 1)
2.Insert the Mechanical Anchor fully into the hole, shell anchor side first.
3.Pull sharply on the Mechanical Anchor in order to anchor the shell firmly into the hole so the strand will not dislodge.
4.Ensure 2.9m of the anchor is in the hole and 200mm of the strand protrudes.
5.Push the AMS Compact Barrel and wedges and the plate up the strand until they make contact with the hanging wall. (Refer to picture 5)
6.Care must be taken not to damage the breather pipe during this operation or grouting of the Mechanical Anchor may not be possible later. This will mean that the anchor must be removed and/or replaced with another. (Refer to picture 6)
Ensure that the correct PPE is worn at all times to prevent eye injuries and cement burns
