INSTALLATION OF COUSIN JACK BOX
- Conduct a risk assessment
- Inform loco crew of work to commence, place stop block on rails 10m on both side of working area
- Rectify all hazards originated from the risk assessment
- Close opening above area where cousin jack box must be installed with means of laggings/agro props and wire mesh
- Determine the hopper height, width and distance from the box to be constructed for positioning of elongated mine poles and shoot to be installed.
- Install vertical elongated pre stress mine poles (150mm) no 1
- Install elongated pre stress mine poles (150mm) at inclination no 2
- Install horizontal timber for shoot support no 3
- Install box liner with gum planks on top of horizontal timber (3)
- Install gum planks on left and right side, nailed to inclination mine poles (2)
- Close opening between hanging wall and box construction with gum planks no 4
- If the construction of the shoot is ≥ 40° then the shoot must be closed on the top with gum planks, spacing will be left between the gum planks to remove obstructions.
- Install steel J-Bar on both sides nailed to gum planks
- Insert gum planks onto J-Bar
- Demarcation of box front must be done by installing 25mm hoses with reflective tape hanging on both sides 3m from the box.
