Lesson 3 – Consort Hoisting Ore & Mud Cars

Procedure for hoisting mud cars

  • The Onsetter to notify Winding Engine Driver that hoisting of mud/material cars is about to take place.
  • Winding Engine Driver to clutch between bank and station. At the bank the conveyance must be clutched on bottom deck and on bottom deck at the station.
  • Onsetter to ring 8 to load material and winding engine driver must acknowledge.
  • Onsetter to ring 7 to access shaft other than traveling, and winding engine driver must acknowledge.
  • Onsetter to open shaft gates.
  • Onsetter to open conveyance door into the inside.
  • Onsetter to remove stop block gate from inside the conveyance.
  • Onsetter to hook 3 Ton chain block on shackle on the center station king post.
  • Onsetter to hook chain block on designated position on cage to align and stabilize the conveyance.
  • Onsetter to remove stop blocks and farm gate.
  • Onsetter to push full car into bottom deck of conveyance and insert T-bar to prevent car from protruding from conveyance.
  • Onsetter to loosen chain block and remove from conveyance.
  • Assistants stay clear of shaft to give Onsetter a clear view of conveyance.
  • After the Onsetter has satisfied himself that all gates are closed, no objects are protruding from the conveyance and all persons are clear and safe, he/she may ring the conveyance away.
  • Follow 4 – 14 above till all cars are hoisted.
  • When finished, ring 8 pause 8 to cancel loading of material and Winding Engine Driver must acknowledge.
  • Remove and lock chain block away on completion by following the necessary 7-ring signal to lock the compartment and 7, pause, 7 to unlock when clear.
  • Notify the Winding Engine Driver that this procedure has come to an end.

 

Procedure for hoisting VTN cars

  • The Onsetter to notify Winding Engine Driver that hoisting of VTN cars is about to take place.
  • Winding Engine Driver to clutch between bank and station. At the bank the conveyance must be clutched on top deck and on bottom deck at the station.
  • Onsetter to ring 8 to load material and winding engine driver must acknowledge.
  • Onsetter to ring 7 to access shaft other than traveling, and winding engine driver must acknowledge.
  • Onsetter to open shaft gates.
  • Onsetter to open conveyance door into the inside.
  • Onsetter to remove stop block gate from inside the conveyance.
  • Onsetter to hook 3 Ton chain block on shackle on the center station king post.
  • Onsetter to hook chain block on designated position on cage to align and stabilize the conveyance.
  • Onsetter to remove stop blocks and farm gate.
  • Onsetter to push full car into bottom deck of conveyance and insert T-bar to prevent car from protruding from conveyance.
  • Onsetter to loosen chain block and remove from conveyance.
  • Assistants stay clear of shaft to give Onsetter a clear view of conveyance.
  • On setter to ring 4-2 to lower the conveyance.
  • Onsetter to stop with a 1 ring when top deck is level with station and Winding Engine Driver must acknowledge with a 1 ring.
  • Follow same procedure as above to load second car on top deck.
  • After the On setter has satisfied himself that all gates are closed, no objects are protruding from the conveyance and all persons are clear and safe, he/she may ring the conveyance away.
  • Follow 4 – 18 above till all cars are hoisted.
  • When finished, ring 8 pause 8 to cancel loading of material and Winding Engine Driver must acknowledge.
  • Remove and lock chain block away on completion by following the necessary 7-ring signal to lock the compartment and 7, pause 7 to unlock when clear.
  • Notify the Winding Engine Driver that this procedure has come to an end.
