Lesson 6 – Safety precautions

Material that are 3m and long shall only be loaded from the back not on the side of a vehicle.
Persons handling heavy equipment or material shall at all times wear steelcap safety shoes or gumboots.
Leather gloves are preferred for the handling of steel equipment or material.
Responsible supervisors to ensure that the correct material or scotch cars are used to transport material or equipment to the underground workings.
Responsible supervisors to ensure that a sufficient number of persons are used to lift or carry equipment or material.
Responsible supervisors to ensure those persons engaged in the transportation and handling of equipment or material, are issued with the correct PPE.
