Barberton Mines (SOP 31) – Safe transport and handeling of heavy equipment or material Lesson 3 – Lifting Devices

The following lifting devices/equipment will be made available for use when required.

  • Rail tongs
  • Heavy duty tongs Pipe hooks or tongs
  • Polyester webbing tongs Carry cradles Chainblocks
  • Slings Forklift
  • Overhead cranes

The responsible supervisors shall ensure that such devices are inspected regularly by a competent person and maintained in good working condition, and the results such an inspection shall be logged in a book provided for the purpose.
