Lesson 5 – Change House And Other Facilities

Change Room Facilities

  • All change rooms must have a female change house attendant who  will be responsible  for the cleaning of PPE for women and keeping the change house clean.
  • Change rooms must be separate from men.
  • The change room must have a sign indicating the gender specifics of the room.
  • Be equipped with at least 2 mirrors.
  • Toilet facilities should be enough to accommodate the number
  • Toilet facilities should be equipped with sanitary bins, serviced and maintained.

 

Shower Facilities

  • There must be at least one shower for every 10 women who may need to shower.

 

Toilet Facilities

  • There must be at enough toilet facilities to accommodate the number of women using the change room.
  • Toilet facilities should be equipped with sanitary bins, serviced and maintained

 

Hand Washing Facilities

  • Facilities for hand washing should be provided
  • Paper towels with disposal facilities,properly laundered continuous roll towel or hot air dryers should be supplied with hand washing facilities. Soap or cleaning agents should be provided.

 

Personal Storage

  • Secure storage should be provided for women to accommodate personal property and must be separate from storage provided for personal protective clothing.
  • The HOD must ensure safe custody of personal property.

 

Underground ablution Facilities

  • Private cubicles to be provided for women.
  • Where possible have a water tap for hygiene purposes.
  • Sanitary bins must be made available, serviced and maintained.
  • Ablution facilities must have lockable doors

 

Tea Rooms

  • Provisions to be made for a tea area. The change house attendant in this document will be responsible for making sure the tea area is kept cleaned and provisions are available
