Barberton Mines (SOP126) – Provisions For Women In Mining Lesson 4 – Requirements For PPE For WIM
  • All PPE issue will be done according to SHEQ-SOP-20 {Personal Protective Equipment).
  • The stores will keep a suitable stock level.
  • Safety will not be traded for comfortability.
  • PPE for WIM must be cleaned between cycle shifts.
  • The change room must be staffed with  female change house attendants who will be responsible for ensuring that PPE for WIM is cleaned.
  • Selected PPE will be must be compatible with any other PPE that may be worn at the same time for any work activity.
  • PPE will only be repaired or replaced when damaged and past useful life or when improved (cost effective) alternative becomes available.
  • Safety will; not be traded for comfortability.
