Lesson 3 – Terms and Definitions

PERMISSION

No person shall use or be permitted to use oxy-acetylene equipment unless he has been examined and certified as proficient in the use of such apparatus.

 

RECORDS

  • Records of persons certified, as proficient in the use of oxy-acetylene equipment will be kept on record and a copy will be sent to the HRD training offices

 

CERTIFICATES

  • Certificates will be issued to all persons authorized to use oxy-acetylene equipment after they have been tested and found proficient in the use of such equipment by the appointed trainer I qualified artisan:  The Training Officer will then issue an appointment card signed by the responsible engineer or relevant HOD.

 

PROFICIENCY TEST

  • The test will consist of a practical and verbal examination, where possible candidates will be found
  • “competent” or “not yet competent”.
  • The person must undergo a practical test covering the items in the attached CRITERION TEST.
  • The criterion test is to be signed by the person receiving his I her competency card I appointment card
