Isolation & Permit to Work
1)Purchase and design of equipment must meet the requirements of this Protocol.
2)Isolation shall provide positive protection by using locking devices or physical barrier with fitted locking device.
3)The “one man, one lock” rule applies to all persons exposed to harmful sources of energy
4)Personal locking devices shall:
- Be uniquely keyed. No combination locks to be used
- Not have an unauthorised second-party master override key
- Be of adequate size to ensure that the isolator being isolated engages properly
- Only be kept by the owning individual, No key to be given to another person for lock removal.
5)Lockout boxes, stations or equivalent shall be provided where required.
6)All hired / contracted equipment to be reviewed to ensure it meets EGM (MPC) isolation requirements.
7)All personal locking devices fitted to isolation points must be tagged.
8)The isolation tagging system shall ensure that isolation points are positively identified and the reason for the isolation is clearly identified.
