EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES – Lesson 4

As far as reasonably practicable, every employee must:

  • Ensure he/she obtain any information, instruction, training or supervision that is necessary to enable them to perform their work safely and without risk to health
  • Ensure every employee becomes familiar with work-related hazards and risks and the measures that must be taken to eliminate, control and minimise those hazards and risks.

As far as reasonably practicable, every employee must ensure that he/she is properly trained:

  • To deal with every risk to the employee’s health or safety
  • In the measures necessary to eliminate, control and minimise those risks to health or safety
  • In the procedures to be followed to perform that employee’s work
  • In relevant emergency procedures

Role of Employees:

  • Must contribute to Health, Safety, Environment and Productivity

How are you going to contribute to Health, Safety, Environment & Productivity?

  • Should be proud
  • Should be motivated
  • Should be focused
  • Should not be wasteful
  • Should not do repetitive jobs
  • Should produce quality work
  • Should be vigilant and safeguard the property of the company.

Training must be administered and records to be kept:

  • Before an employee first starts work
  • At intervals determined by the Employer based on aspects related to health and safety
  • Before significant changes are introduced to procedures, mining and ventilation layouts, mining methods, plant or equipment and material
  • Before significant changes are made to the nature of that employee’s occupation or work
